ABOUT THE COMPANY “SMET”

The scientific and production company "Smet" was established in 1991 and is engaged in the development and production of innovative products from bioelastic nitinol (NiTi) with shape memory. The priority area is medicine, specialization is endoscopic instruments.

Nitinol is the only bioinert alloy that has the elasticity of living tissue, which allows it to create unique medical products.

Bioelastic nitinol extractors for endoscopic removal of urinary and gallstones are one such product.

Our company has been engaged in lithoextractors since its foundation. During this time, several generations of “Smet-extractors” were created.

In 1991, the company "SMET" was the first in the world to produce lithoextractors with a "classic" basket-trap Dormia from nitinol.

In the late 90s, the company developed and began to produce nitinol lithoextractors with an innovative Khachin trap basket in the form of a “net” with a grid on the distal surface, guaranteeing the capture and retention of the stone on the first try. Khachin’s original lithoextractors became a strong alternative to traditional Dormia basket extractors and began to replace the latter not only in the Russian market, but also abroad, especially in the USA.

In 2014, SMET developed and began to mass-produce new Khachin lithoextractors with the ability to move the grid from the distal surface of the basket to the side surface (Side basket) and thereby free itself from the “extreme” stone trapped in the basket.
