Tomsk - Kyrgyzstan: age-old friendship

More so, in the context of economic sanctions by some countries of the far abroad.

 Recently, the economic relations between Russia and the Central Asian republics are most intensively developing. One of the main strategic partners and allies of our country is the Republic of Kyrgyzstan. Russian-Kyrgyz cooperation is multifaceted, characterized by the proximity of approaches to international and regional affairs, and a focus on the development of Eurasian integration processes.

In 1992, the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance between our countries were signed; in 2000, the Russian-Kyrgyz Declaration on Eternal Friendship, Alliance and Partnership. About 160 bilateral interstate and intergovernmental treaties and agreements have been concluded. Contacts are at the highest level constantly.

Recently, cooperation has been intensifying at the regional level. Tomsk region occupies a leading position here, largely thanks to our universities. In the years of the USSR and the post-Soviet era, Tomsk universities trained thousands of engineers, scientists, doctors, teachers and other specialists for Kyrgyzstan. Hundreds of Kyrgyz students are studying in Tomsk today. Many heads of enterprises of the republic are graduates of Tomsk universities, and most of them do not lose touch with their Alma mater. In a word, there are all prerequisites for the intensive development of our economic ties.

Confirmation of this is the recent visit of entrepreneurs from Kyrgyzstan to the Tomsk region. Within the framework of the business mission, representatives of Kyrgyz companies visited Tomskkabel LLC, Universal Terminal Systems LLC, AIS Engineering LLC, Novaya Chemiya LLC, Siberian Fiber LLC, Tomsk Special Economic Zone, got acquainted with scientific and educational innovative potential of our region, we held negotiations with the enterprises - LLC Elcomplus, LLC Telebreeze, LLC Solagift, LLC Moye Keramik-Implantat, LLC Aqvelite and others.

The visit was organized in the Tomsk CCI in conjunction with the CPE of the Business Development Fund as part of a national project for the development of small and medium-sized enterprises. The Kyrgyz delegation included the heads of importing enterprises of medical, telecommunications and electrical equipment. The Tomsk side invited them to search for partners among small and medium-sized businesses in our region for importing Tomsk products into Kyrgyzstan. The guests showed particular interest in cooperating with Tomsk IT companies, enterprises of the timber industry complex.

Note that the Tomsk region is successfully developing economic, scientific, educational, cultural cooperation with Kyrgyzstan. For example, in May last year, representatives of the Tomsk CCI during a visit to Bishkek held a series of meetings with potential partners of Tomsk companies, and a presentation of products of Tomsk enterprises was also held at the CCI of Kyrgyzstan.

This year, presentations on the economic potential of our region and investment projects were held on Tomsk land. An exchange of contacts of local entrepreneurs with representatives of Kyrgyz companies was held at the site of the Tomsk CCI.

During the exchange of contacts, Kyrgyz companies showed great interest in Tomsk products. Preliminary agreements have been reached on the supply of cable and electrical products, wound bandages, filters for water purification, interactive sandboxes, Siberian wild plants and other products to the Kyrgyz market, and preliminary agreements have been reached on cooperation in the field of information technologies.

Given the keen interest of the Kyrgyz side in Tomsk products and technologies during the last visit, it can be argued that the Tomsk business, especially high-tech, has good prospects for promoting on the Kyrgyz market. A very important factor is the preserved historical connection of this country with Tomsk universities. Graduates of Tomsk universities work in enterprises, in various organizations and governing bodies of Kyrgyzstan and do not lose touch with their Alma Mater.

The visit of the delegation from the Kyrgyz Republic was organized by the Tomsk Chamber of Commerce and Industry together with the Business Development Fund with the support of the administration of the Tomsk Region and the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia as part of a national project for the development of small and medium-sized businesses.
