TOMSK CCI ORGANISED AN ‘EXPORTER’S DAY’ FOR EXPORT-ORIENTED SMEs

On August 2, 2016 Tomsk entrepreneurs took part in the events of the “Exporter’s Day” organized by the Center for Development of Foreign Economic Activity (Tomsk CCI) in the framework of the regional business development program and activities of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation.

In the framework of the “Exporter’s Day” specialist of AO " Russian Export Center" Andrey Zhigalov represented new mechanisms of supporting non-resource exports, provided the detailed overview of the activities of AO " Russian Export Center" and state instruments of export support.

Then a seminar on operating in the Middle East markets was held by guest experts in international business –representative of the Russo-British Chamber of Commerce Alan Thompson and British expert with a great work experience in the Middle East, CIS, BRICS and Africa Colin Ward.

During the seminar participants got acquainted with an overview of the Middle East countries in terms of attractiveness for business cooperation, approaches to an export strategy choice, working experience of British business in the Middle East, learned about political and economic risks when entering the market, work approaches in new markets, channels of entry and the use of existing business contacts. Furthermore, experts spoke about the financial system in the Middle East countries, pointed some issues of business ethics and considered successful cases of British companies. In addition, guest experts highlighted main features of conducting a marketing research, establishing effective communication and organizing promotional events.

The seminar was attended by 25 people representing 22 subjects of small and medium business of the Tomsk region.

"Tomsk CCI offered an interesting format to explore international markets – an outlook of representatives of the country with a huge history in international trade (the UK) concerning multinational markets of the Middle East. We plan to continue consultations with Russian and foreign experts, specialists from the Tomsk CCI to enter these potential markets", said Evgeny Drobyshev, OOO “Siatek”.

   The seminar was held in the framework of the activity of the Regional Center for Export Support with the support of the Tomsk Regional Small and Medium Enterprise Development Fund, Tomsk Region Administration and the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation.
