In March 2016, business mission of Tomsk small and medium enterprises visited the southern Indian’s state – Kerala as a part of the entrepreneurial development regional program.


In March 2016, business mission of Tomsk small and medium enterprises visited the southern Indian’s state – Kerala as a part of the entrepreneurial development regional program.

The organization of the project was undertaken by Tomsk CCI with the assistance of regional Department of Industry and Entrepreneurial Development and Trade Mission of the Russian Federation in the Republic of India.

Participants of negotiations and meetings in the capital of the state – Thiruvananthapuram, and business capital – Kochi became 14 small and medium enterprises of our region, among which are “Smet”, “EleSy Company”, “MFO Componenty”, “Aqvelite Company”, “Innovative Pharmacology Research (IPHAR)”, “Tomiar”, “Tomgiprotrans” and others.

The significance of the visit was underlined through the participation in these events Trade Representative of the Russian Federation in India, Yaroslav Tarasyuk, intentionally arrived from Delhi, Honorary Consul of the Russian Federation in Thiruvananthapuram, Ratish Nair, highest-level meetings with the chief minister of the state, Mr. Ommen Chandy, secretary general of Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, administration of Kochi municipality, director of Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology and executives of the biggest world companies situated in Kerela and operating in the sphere of medicine, biotechnology, diagnostic equipment, construction.

Visit of Tomsk business representatives aroused great interest among the Kerala business community as well as local and national India’s mass media. Information about the negotiations with the chief minister of the state, b2b meetings with 80 Indian companies was published on websites of the Confederation of Indian Industry, in national newspapers such as The New Indian Express and Hindu, in some local printed media and announced on Kerela TV-channels.

In the result of the visit “Smet”, “EleSy Company” signed contracts with Indian enterprises, also “MFO Componenty”, “Aqvelite Company” and “Innovative Pharmacology Research (IPHAR)” achieved some agreements with Indian companies, so the detailed contracts are going to be signed during this month. Indian party also got interested in production and services of “Submicron Technologies” (MICRAN), “Tomgiprotrans”, “Tomiar” and capabilities of STMU and TPU.

“Support of export-oriented small and medium enterprises is one of the priorities of the business support regional program. Nowadays we can see that joint efforts of Regional Administration, enterprises and Tomsk CCI opens new markets for our business”, - Nikolai Glebovich, acting deputy governor of the Tomsk Region industrial policy.

“I am pleased, that Tomsk entrepreneurs showed their interest in cooperation with Kochi companies. I see your business potential and I am ready to offer a partnership agreement to Tomsk. Inventions and innovations of Tomsk companies in such spheres as pharmacology, medical equipment and new materials production and capabilities of Kochi companies could benefit for enterprises of both countries. I take a favorable view of the signed contracts between the Tomsk companies “Smet”, “EleSy Company” and Kerala businessmen and hope the agreements of “MFO Componenty”, “Aqvelite Company” and “Innovative Pharmacology Research (IPHAR)” will also be signed and realized in the nearest future”, - first deputy of Kochi municipality Mayor.

Kerala is a state situated in the south of India. It has the highest level of education among other states and developed infrastructure (telecommunication and transport). The National Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology of the Ministry of Science and Technology (India) is located there. A number of companies operate in this state which are the world market leaders in the production of medical equipment, natural condiments and extracts, IT-sector and transport infrastructure are rapidly developing. In 1498 Vasco da Gama with his expedition arrived in this very state and discovered India.

Kochi is a business capital of Kerela, the biggest international container terminal. This city is among the 20 Indian cities, in which the national Smart City program is realizing. Throughout the centuries Kochi has been a center of condiment trade. The fourth biggest private bank in India, the leading online-sale company – SEBI, the largest enterprises of crude refining, IT-technologies, food manufacturing industry and biotechnologies, medicine and pharmacology, laboratory diagnosis equipment, tourist sphere are operating in this city.
