Tomsk Chamber of Commerce held a meeting of Tomsk innovative companies with a delegation

A meeting of delegations from the Republic of Finland with Tomsk innovative SMEs was hold in October 1, 2015 in the conference hall of Tomsk CCI.

  A meeting of delegations from the Republic of Finland with Tomsk innovative SMEs was hold in October 1, 2015 in the conference hall of Tomsk CCI.

  Representatives from the Embassy of Finland in Russia, the Finnish-Russian Chamber of Commerce, Association of Finnish Industries “East Office”, University of Helsinki, Aalto, Tampere, Turku, University of Eastern Finland and the University of Alexandria took part in this event. The purpose of the delegation's visit to Tomsk was interest to the innovative potential of Tomsk region, the intensification of bilateral cooperation, distribution of information about Tomsk in scientific and business circles of Finland.

  Foreign visitors watched the presentations of Tomsk innovative enterprisers and opportunities of Regional Integrated Center of Tomsk CCI. The discussion centered round some points about bilateral cooperation in business support, prospects of business collaboration, and opportunities of joint events in the field of business education.

  The head of the delegation from Finland, Mrs. Riitta Kosonen highly appreciated scientific, technological and production possibilities of Tomsk region. She also noted that Tomsk CCI significantly contributes to the development of regional economy.

  The representative of Finnish-Russian Chamber of Commerce Taneli Dobrovolski in his speech told about growing interest of Finnish companies-members of Chamber (about 600 companies) to the cooperation with Russia, and promised to inform Finnish business about commercial offers of Tomsk companies. Mr. Dobrovolski also noted a gradual change in preferences of Finnish business: formerly a major part of joint projects was realized in traditional industries in the North-West of Russia, but now Finnish business is ready to cooperate with companies from Ease Russia.

  Mikko Hietikko, an analysist from East Office (an association of leading corporations in Finland cooperating with Russian partners), expressed his great interest to presentations of Tomsk companies. According to his opinion, a great scientific base of Tomsk universities and a strong innovative component of Tomsk business are absolutely a great advantage of our city from the point of view of investment attracting.

  After the meeting, the participants of Finnish delegation and Tomsk companies held individual negotiations and planned further steps for building of mutually beneficial cooperation.

Despite the relative youth of your organization, we see that it makes a significant contribution to the modernization of the Tomsk region’s economy”, - Riitta Kosonen, the director of the Higher School of Economics, Aalto University.
