Tomsk developments come to Uzbekistan

In April, 2015 was held a business mission of Tomsk small and medium enterprises to the Republic of Uzbekistan. It was organized by Enterprise Europe Network of Tomsk CCI.

  As a part of the mission entrepreneurs visited a number of Uzbekistan enterprises and organizations.

  The first was the meeting with Zh. Ismailov, vice-chairman of AO “UZELTEHSANOAT” (national association of industrial enterprises). During the meeting Mr. Ismailov described organization’s activities, major lines of work of those enterprises, which are included in association and government industry support programs. Tomsk also introduced some enterprises. Such companies as ZAO “Fiztech-Energo”, OOO “Elcom+” and OOO “Bisnes-akselerator “Energiya” aroused much interest.  

  The second meeting took place at AO “Tashkentskyi mehanicheskiyi zavod” (late of “Tashkentskoye aviatsionnoye proizvodstvennoye obyedineniye imeni V. P. Chkalova”). E. Nazarov, chief engineer of the enterprise, welcomed Tomsk delegation. Tomsk representatives learned some facts from the factory’s history, visited shop floors. While making presentations, Uzbekistan representatives showed interest in light-emitting-diode production of “Fiztech-Energo”. There was reached an agreement to develop the program replacement of existing lighting system by light-emitting-diode system. Factory’s savings in this sphere promise to be enormous.

  The third was a meeting at AO SP «Uzelektroapparat-elektroshchit». This company is a part of AO “UZELTEHSANOAT”. It is an Uzbek-Russian joint venture company manufacturing electrical products. Despite the enterprise secrecy, business manager Sh. Shukurov, organized an excursion, during which Tomsk delegates had an opportunity to evaluate well-organized production on its merits. Mr. Shukurov confirmed his interest in power-generating equipment of “Fiztech-Energo”. Representative of OOO “Ferment”, producing bio ice-cream, reached an unexpected success. Brother of Sh. Shukurov is a director of Tashkent ice cream plant. This product is in a high demand on local market and now, there is no doubt that in nearest future a unique product of Tomsk company will be bought by Uzbekistan citizens.

  One more organization was Association of international business and technologies. The main focus of Association, which units more than 200 companies, is promotion of Uzbek business overseas and representation of Russian companies’ interests in Uzbekistan. Association’s executive director, Z. Abdurahmanova, invited several companies – members of Association - to take part in the meeting with Tomsk representatives. Z. Abdurahmanova shared her experience in cooperation with Russian companies, described the main focus of the organization and presented several companies of association interested in collaboration with Russian partners. The whole variety of production and services of Tomsk companies attracted much interest. Z. Abdurahmanova claimed responsibility for a work on offers of Tomsk representatives.

  The second working day started with a meeting in Trade representation of Russian Federation in Uzbekistan. Leonid Pokrovskiy, expert of Trade representatives, fully characterized economic situation of the Republic, its needs and prospects. All the participants received reminder cards with description of government support and development programs in different sectors of Uzbek economy. Mr. Pokrovsiy also told about special aspects of business operations in the Republic, pointed out mistakes to Russian companies while working with Uzbek partners and explained how to avoid common mistakes. Leonid Pokrovskiy assured that Trade representation will put the most efforts to support Tomsk companies in operation on the Uzbek market and encourage entrepreneurs to ask Trade representation for help more actively. In the course of the multi-sided excited discussion participants of the delegation asked questions they are interested in.

  Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry held an exchange of contacts. Nazira Dadahanova, chief of Center for Development Foreign Economic Activity of Uzbekistan CCI, in her opening speech marked this time representatives of Tomsk came with very interesting offers. In order to meet and communicate with Tomsk companies in conference hall of Uzbekistan CII assembled representatives of more than 30 organizations, among which are the largest Tashkent enterprises (NHK «Uzbekneftegaz» East Telecom ltd., GAZHK «Uzbekistan Temir Yulari», etc.), Associations of different branches of industries (Uzbek automobile and inland water transport agency, UA «Uzkommunkhazmat», etc.) and ministries and departments (Ministry of Health, Ministry of Information technology and Communication, State Committee for Nature Protection etc.). Tomsk representatives held 4-6 negotiations with potential partners, told them about activities of their companies, reached a number of agreements about further development of possible variants of cooperation. In the result of 2b2 meetings was concluded a dealership contract (Uzbek company will represent Tomsk production on Uzbek market) and agreements of intent.

  The ended business mission has shown that cooperation with Uzbekistan could and should be, despite the existing difficulties. Tomsk companies highly estimated working prospects in the Republic and several companies are planning to make separate visits for the purpose of strengthen and development of business contacts.
