Director of the Eurasian Federation of Oncology to take part in INNOVUS
Director of the Eurasian Federation of Oncology Somasundaram Subramanian will take part in the technology session “Nuclear medicine: from research to technologies and market” on the first day of the Forum (May 22).
Director of the Eurasian Federation of Oncology Somasundaram Subramanian will take part in the technology session “Nuclear medicine: from research to technologies and market” on the first day of the Forum (May 22).
The discussion will be focused on the complete chain of nuclear medicine which includes hardware design, research infrastructure development, production of radiopharmaceuticals, establishment of radiological centres and personnel training, and its deployment in Siberia and Far East regions. The session participants will talk about the present status of nuclear medicine, quality of research infrastructure, bottlenecks in transition from research to commercial application of technologies, priority tasks in high technology equipment production and nuclear medicine products realisation. An important topic of the discussion is the search for conditions under which the nuclear medicine will become available to people in Russia who need diagnostics and undergo oncological treatment\.
Oncologist Somasundaram Subramanian, the Director of the Eurasian Federation of Oncology, will talk in the discussion dedicated to nuclear medicine and implementation of the relevant projects. This will not be the first visit to Tomsk for Mr Subramanian, who demonstrated the operation for oncologists from Siberia and the Far East together with his colleagues from India, Australia and Russia in 2012.
The Eurasian Federation of Oncology (EAFO) brings together individual specialists in oncology and existing professional organisations from Europe, Asia and beyond, to facilitate the exchange of knowledge overcoming cultural and language barriers, to improve professional skills in fighting cancer, to promote equal access to optimal cancer treatment and care, to advance the idea of healthy way of life and to prevent the spread of cancer diseases.
Valentin Smirnov, Deputy Director General of ZAO Science and Innovations (Scientific Advisor of Electricity and Physics Unit) will moderate the discussion. Head of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency Vladimir Uiba will take part in the technology session, as well as director of the Radiation Technologies programme project office (Rosatom State Corporation) Mikhail Batkov, Rector of National Research Unclear University MEPhi Mikhail Strikhanov, Prof. V.A. Solodky, Director of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “Russian Research Centre for Radiology and Nuclear Medicine” of the Ministry of Health and Social Development of the Russian Federation, and others.
